6 - 8 Hrs Trekking per day at a slow comfortable pace.
Leave Pack on Trail if you need to answer call of nature, so people / DA Team behind know someone is off trail.
Day 1
Group Checkin at Heathrow - Possible 3Hours before departure time - Update to come on Hand Luggage Restrictions - advise dressed ready to walk on arrival in Cuzco in event of delayed luggage.
Day 2
Arrive Cuzco (3400 masl) Hub of the Inca Empire, Flights in may be delayed due to Valley Fog - Today is a "Chill Out" day as arriving at altutude you may feel groggy and get a headache - take paracetemol and lots of water - stay off alcohol as this will just make it worse - take time to rest - maybe sleep.
Day 3
2nd Acclimatisation Day - you may not have slept all that well. We will be drive up to 3700 masl with possible Ozzie our guide - Lunch on this day will be a huge buffet and will likey be attended by a Peruvian band / Music and selling their CD's
Today we will be visiting Sacsayhuaman, an Inca ruin that took 20,000 people 70 years to build. It incorporates the 3 tier temples and a Sun festival is held there every year. At night we will be staying in Hotel in Cuzco again - time to chill out and pack for the trail the next day. You will be supplied with a bag in which to pack your gear for the next few days - this will be carried by the porters from camp to camp - personal items and things needed through the day to be carried yourselves in your day pack.
Day 4
Cuzco - Sacred Valley
We are driven over hill to Ollantaytambo @ KM82, this is where the trail starts and we need to get through the checkpoint - this is where you need to have your passport to enter the trail. there are people here selling bamboo walking poles for about 50pence and also plastic ponchos for about the same cost. The days walk starts at 2600masl crossing a bridge over the Urambamba River towards camp at 3000 masl approx 4 hours later - on arrival at camp porters usually clap everyone in and will have bowls of water ready to wash in. - Take 20 - 30 mins to chill out and rest before going to your tent to unpack sleeping bags and change. It will start to get cold at night around 6 / 6.30pm as it gets dark.
Day 5
Wayllabamba - Pacamayo - 2nd day of trek and the hardest, take things slow and steady, lunch will be at 3800masl - there will be tents up here as the effects of altitude may have gotten to you - take a lie down, some water and paracetemol. After lunch we set off to get over "Dead Womans Pass" at 4200 masl - the highest point on the trek, we shall wait at the top for everyone to catch up. On the downhill take your time and watch your knees - this will also be the coldest night in camp and possible for frost to be on tents at night with possible temperature of minus 5. Suggest Hats & Socks in bed - lol
Day 6
Pacamayo - Winay Wayna - Lots of steps, walking through cloud forest and past ruins - this is the last night at camp around 2400 / 2600 masl - a bar is there!!
Day 7
Machu Picchu
early start so we can arrive at the sun gate around 9 / 10 am before the lazy train tourists arrive, a tours given by local guides - you can get your passport stamped here and we have lunch near the main gate. at 4.30 / 5pm we take the train from Aguas Calientes back - should arrive in Cuzco around 9pm and back to the hotel

Free Day in Cuzco - Celebration Meal / Disco at night
Day 9
Early Start for Flights Home.

Recommended is walking on path at the side furthest from edge of the trail to prevent any falling down mountainside!!
There will be safe at Hotel in Cuzco to leave anything valuable, also to leave your return flight tickets in
Pack kit in waterproof bags
Weight Limit for Bags given to porters - 12 / 15 KG
All water on trail given to you by porters will have been boiled and treated
Take a luxury item to be waiting for you at camp, an incentive to get there - chocolate etc
Tents are 3 man, but will be accommodated by 2, you will be paired up with a room mate
Take Nappy Sacks for disposal of Used Toilet Roll - Toilets are not great but use them
Take Toilet Roll & Wet Wipes
With thinner air sunscreen with factor 30+ recommended
Alcohol based antibacterial gel / hand wash recommended
Tips for porters - 20 - 30 $, given on last night before reaching MP - DA will collect from you
Leave Headtorch in daysack in case arrival delayed to camp site
Travel Adaptors for in Cuzco - 2 pin flat / straight
Money - DA reckon to take £ 150 min - more if your a shopaholic
General walking temperature will allow wearing of shorts and t shirt - take fleece & waterproofs in day pack
Towels - take a smallish travel towel - quick drying that can hang in its bag on back of pack to dry
You will be consuming approx 4lts of water a day - recommend carrying least 2ltrs in day pack
